I am a second year animation student at DePaul University in Chicago, IL and this was my final project for my last quarter animation class. Our professor required us to make an animation in any media about a personal story. So this is mine. Believe it or not, it's a love story. I recently ended a significant relationship and was swept off my feet by another person. But, as with all art, you can interpret this as you wish. There is no music, just a few free stock sounds I found online. This is completely hand-drawn except for the "space" background.

I'd love to hear your questions or critiques! I'm always looking for improvement.
Thank you.

This is a lot like a short film called switch. Have you seen it?

I really enjoyed this! The ending, when she turns off the lights, could be interpreted in many different ways because it's not clear what happened next, whether she escaped the "fear" or succumbed to it. Great job!

I'm also a 2nd year animation student, though at college in london. I think you could have added more weight to the landing by removing a few frames and reduced the amount of frames as she got closer to the ground. the fall could have also been improved by making the body as curled as when falling through space, though have the legs extended like a 'tail'. This is so that when the character lands, the weight would look more believable and the lines of actions would have a bigger contrast, meaning looks like there is more action.

There are other stuff, like with the symbol of the monster moving, that would have been moved along faster or have a slower walk cycle so it doesn't seem like the feet are sliding/floating.

There is a part of the animation where the whole body moves at once, this i don't advise at all. even if you're going for a tense movement, the body would move from the bottom up. starting with the feet moving, giving the body a twit in the direction she is going to end up, then the body gets the (i would add a higher pass pos). lastly the head would arrive, would be nice if the eyes closed before the head turned at this point so is adds tension. then again, I don't know what kind of thoughts you wanted the character to be thinking at that point so i cant comment too much.

Looking really good! I can't wait to see more of your stuff in the future :3

[please don't think I'm mean; only trying to help >o<]

It's ok! I know you're not being mean. Critiques are key to improving animation :) I know its not perfect and I appreciate your feedback.

The animation was really fluid; I loved it. :D You have loads of potential.

I won't be surprised to see you go far.
